When coaching baseball, the planning for the fast approaching baseball season should be well underway. The drills you will use for teaching each phase of the game should soon be chosen, prioritized, and time allotted for each one. It is suggested that the WARM-UP phase last 20 minutes and include 3 running drills and 2-3 throwing. The INDIVIDUAL skills phase, 15 minutes and include 2 drills. GROUP work, 20 minutes for 2 drills, and TEAM Work for the remaining of the practice.
We've found that college players lose focus if drills last more than 10 minutes, so for a fast-moving interesting practice, keep them moving.
