When coaching baseball, after introducing the grip to players learning to throw, it is important that they begin to see how the whole body is involved. The fingers and wrists play an important role. To get the feel of how they work, isolate the wrist and apply the force with the fingers and wrist directly through the center of the ball so that it spins with an axis parallel to the ground, or from 12 to 6 on a clock.
